Eligibility Requirements
- Manufacturing or selected services sector
- Minimum paid-up capital based on ownership structure
- Minimum foreign paid-up capital for Key Posts
- Clear immigration and blacklist status
- Valid LHDNM tax compliance
- JTK approval under the Employment Act 1955
- MyFutureJobs advertisement (unless exempt)
- Passport validity of at least 12 months
- Required academic qualifications for Term Posts
- Relevant work experience for Term Posts
- Minimum salary threshold based on post type and sector, and
- Localisation plan for Malaysian talent development (Term Posts)
Required Documents
Some of these will be generated through the system as part of the application process while others must be drafted by the applying company:
- MIDA approval letters such as Manufacturing License, incentive or status letters
- JTK approval under Section 60K of the Employment Act 1955
- MyFutureJobs advertisement records or proof of exemption
- Full passport copy including all pages
- Employment contract duly stamped by LHDN
- Academic certificates and transcripts, translated and certified
- Updated expatriate resume
- Job description for the role
- Latest organisation chart
- Localisation training programme for Term Post renewals
- Previous MIDA Key Post approval letter if applicable
- Letter of justification for the position

FAQs
It is a part of the InvestMalaysia portal designed to provide an end-to-end process for the submission, tracking, and approval of expatriate passes for companies in Malaysia’s manufacturing sector.
In addition to manufacturing, MIDA evaluates applications for selected services sectors that hold valid MIDA licenses, incentives, or status approvals.
There are two main categories:
- Key Posts, which are permanent high-level managerial roles for safeguarding foreign investments, and
- Term Posts, which are time-bound roles focused on technical expertise transfer to locals
The requirement depends on company ownership:
- RM250,000 for 100% Malaysian-owned
- RM350,000 for joint ventures, and
- RM500,000 for 100% foreign owned
For Term Posts, the minimum monthly salary is RM5,000 in services or RM7,000 in manufacturing, with 3 to 7 years of experience required depending on the applicant’s academic level
Key Posts require a minimum basic salary of RM20,000
Officially, MIDA’s documents state end-to-end processing timeline is 15 working days, consisting of 10 working days for MIDA’s evaluation and 5 working days for the Immigration Unit’s process.
In practice, as this is a new system for a popular sector, it will likely suffer teething problems and so we cannot commit to a specific date.
General EP applications take around 8 – 9 months.
Qualified EP holders may apply for:
- Dependant Passes for legal spouses and children under 18, or
- Long-Term Social Visit Passes for parents, parents-in-law, and children aged 18 to 25
The PVP is a temporary visa (maximum 12 months, non-extendable) for foreign professionals employed by overseas companies to perform specific tasks like machine installation, technical audits, or consultancy.
MIDA charges RM2,000 for an Employment Pass, RM1,200 for a Professional Visit Pass, and RM500 for Dependent or Long-Term Social Visit Passes, excluding SST and Immigration-specific fees.

- Submit visa application (EP, PVP, etc.) and upload documents through MIDA Expatriate System (MES)
- Application reviewed by MIDA followed by Immigration for final pass approval
- Payment and issuance of ePass at MIDA
