Filling In The Qualifications Section Of An EP Application Form

Filling In The Qualifications Section Of An EP Application Form

This is going to be a quick one! From time to time, MISHU receives enquiries from those at various stages of self-handling their first Employment Pass application, and we’re happy to help where we can.

One of the most common questions from people halfway through the process is:

What do I fill in under ‘qualificiation’ in the EP form?

They are of course referring to one of the sections of the EP application form on Xpats Gateway.

Assuming the candidate is truly qualified for the role and EP category, these are best practices we at MISHU use to avoid rejections and returns due to procedural missteps:

  • enter the exact legal name of the awarding institution as per certificate (no abbreviations)
  • select institution from dropdown if available; otherwise type full official name exactly
  • ensure qualification title matches certificate word-for-word
  • do not simplify qualification names (e.g. do not shorten degree titles)
  • enter exact field of study/major as stated in documents
  • use precise academic dates (official enrollment/registration date and graduation/conferment date only)
  • use country of awarding institution registration (not exchange/study-abroad country unless jointly awarded)
  • ensure consistency across all documents (cv, certificates, forms, supporting records)
  • ensure job titles, employment dates, and job descriptions are identical and aligned across submissions
  • ensure qualification level aligns with relevant experience expectations (degree ~3 years, diploma ~5 years, technical certificate ~7 years)
  • do not exaggerate or misstate academic or professional credentials
  • treat all entries as audit-grade and verifyable data fields
  • use proper scanner for all documents (no phone photos, camscanner, whatsapp, or screenshots)
  • submit full-colour, clear, straight, fully readable scans
  • do not crop edges, stamps, signatures, or important details
  • do not merge unrelated documents into unclear files
  • submit complete passport set (all pages including front, back, stamped, and blank pages) scanned via scanner
  • provide passport-style photo with light blue background, formal clothing, front-facing neutral expression, visible ears, no filters or shadows, studio-quality preferred (raw file if available)
  • use clean, simple cv format without heavy design or graphics; ensure consistency with application details
  • if documents are not in english, provide certified english translations with originals; translations must be notarised or embassy-certified and verifiable
  • ensure all submitted information is consistent, accurate, and verifiable across all documents for immigration review

That’s it from us, and we wish you all the best with your application 😊
