Application steps and wait time
The MM2H program is regulated by the Malaysian government and applications must be done via approved agents.
The process typically takes around two to three months and consists of the following steps:
- Consultation: Meet an agent to discuss your needs.
- Agreement & Downpayment: Confirm your package, sign an agreement, and pay ~20% as a deposit.
- Document Preparation (1-2 months): Prepare, notarize, and certify necessary documents.
- Submission & Approval (2-3 months): The agent submits documents, and MOTAC reviews them.
- Conditional Approval: Pay the balance upon receiving the approval letter.
- Enter Malaysia: Within 3 months, complete a medical check-up, open a bank account, and secure insurance.
- Visa Endorsement: Obtain the MM2H visa. If buying property, a one-year visa is issued first, with 12 months to complete the purchase and receive the full pass.
