A Full Guide To CIDB License Renewals

Both local and foreign CIDB Contractor Registration Certificates (PPK) can be renewed up to 120 days before their expiration dates – plenty of time to procrastinate until the last minute.

Renewal requirements

Conditions to renew a CIDB license are quite strightforward:

• meet specific grade paid up capital and personnel requirements
• have proof of sufficient CCD points within one year period, and
• be free from disciplinary actions that prohibit license renewal

If you meet these requirements, time to compile the necessary paperwork!

Required documents

Some documents are required for all renewals, while others aare required depending on:

• type of business entity
• CIDB category
• first-time renewals

General documents

• Latest SSM profile
• All relevant technical certificates and qualifications
• Proof of CCD points (certificates or other forms of proof)
• Work permit (if CCD points obtained through foreign worker)

Additional documents

• Resume of experience in FM Facilities Management work
• Competent Person Certificate
• Registration Certificate with other agencies
• EPF contribution statement
• Facility Skills Competency Certificate (SKK) for Category F

First time renewals

• Integrity and Code of Ethics Course Certificate
• Business Management Competency Certificate (SKP) (for G1-G3 without technical personnel during registration)
• Facility Management Competency Certificate (SKP) for Category F

Sdn Bhd

• Latest audited financial statements
• Latest Annual Return

Sole Proprietorships, Partnerships & LLPs

• Latest financial statements
• Partnership agreement for Partnerships and LLPs

Renewal periods

A CIDB license can be renewed for a minimum of one year and a maximum of three years depending on accumulated CCD points.

For example, a G7 contractor needs at least 40 CCD points per year.

If it has 80 points it can renew its license for another two years, and with 120 points it can get a three year extension–good luck getting that many points, though!

Fees

CIDB license renewals have two fees:

1. A processing fee of RM30
2. A license fee of half the original registration fee based on grade

For example, a G7 contractor license registration costs RM1,400, so a renewal costs RM700.

This of course doesn’t include additional charges if engaging license application service providers–but we promise we don’t charge that much 🙂

Submitting your CIDB renewal application

As you should already have an account on the CIDB CIMS portal, you just need to login and select the option to renew your registration.

From there, the platform takes you through the renewal process, asking you to submit documents, update business details, and pay the processing fee.

It will also ask if you have a valid Government Work Procurement Certificate (SPKK) and Bumiputera Status (STB) and if yes, both can be renewed simultaneously for no additional cost.

If all is well, applications are processed in two working days.

Once approved, you have 14 days to pay the renewal fee and it’s back to the construction site for another year!
